View Full Version : The corperate world is brutal....
MARTYUSA 09-26-2005, 04:38 PM Went back to work today after being out for a week with some serious sicknesses and my employer informs me that they are terminating my department. So, I say well where are you gonna put me? No where, were not selling any cars and we're overstaffed for what we're doing. We can't afford to keep you. Sorry.
What a shot in the ass. Out sick for a week and I come back to that. NICE!
So I take my 2 weeks severence and I'm gone. God, I love the car business.

Good luck on the job hunt. That sucks.
Chest Rockwell 10-01-2005, 07:44 PM So what's the plan, Marty?
Dakota 10-01-2005, 08:21 PM It is sometimes hard to see ahead but it was just that kind of shit that pushed me into doing something for myself. I make 10 times what I did busting ass for someone else. Sometimes a kick in the balls is good motivation.

Well bro, I did just that. Registered the company name, got my license and I am fully insured. So I say, fuckem. I'm out on my own.

Does that mean you're selling cars on your own now?
MARTYUSA 10-01-2005, 11:21 PM Does that mean you're selling cars on your own now?
HELL NO. Ya know, in the car business I made alot of money. And I met alot of crooked people. I don't believe in stealing from your employees and that's all I see anymore. More and more vets are getting out of the business because of all the bullshit around here and I decide to follow suit. So I went and got me a nice toolbox for my truck and I am getting back into commercial construction. Start my first gig on Monday.
The best part is, I'll be home for dinner every night. I'll get to spend more time with the family and I'll be able to lead a more normal life. It blows going in at 8 and not leaving til 10-11 at night. And then they get pissed because you won't come in on your day off because business is slow. So they play little games, like cut your advertising budget in half until either you leave or become a good little soldier. So, I'm out and on to better things.
T-Bar 10-01-2005, 11:39 PM SWEET! Even though I was hoping you could get me a Dodge Charger for dirt cheap I'm even more happy that you're going to have a real life.

fishtownflexin 10-02-2005, 10:35 AM Sorry to hear Marty but where one door closes another will always open. And by the looks of things the new door has swung open for you. Now you get more time to spend with the family, and get to eat as a family as well.........looks like a much better deal to me

MARTYUSA 10-22-2005, 04:50 PM Old - New lifestyle
Old. Up 7:00am Drop daughter off to school in my office by 8:00. Everyone else is alseep when I leave so I get to say goodbye to only my wife.
After a stressful job of bullshitting my way to making a few bucks. That is if I get to see a client. Home by 10:30pm, Everyone's in bed and asleep already.
New. Up at 5:30-6:00am. Working by 7ish. Break at 9:30. Back to work. Lunch at 12:00. Back to work 12:45ish. Wrap up 2:45 and packed up by 3:10. Home by 3:30ish.
Yes, I have taken a slight paycut. but when we boil it down to hours worked, I'm making much more. And the fact that I can actually see my family and watch my kids grow up is priceless. Been a great move thus far.
Thanks for all the support guys, even if it was to correct my spelling. LOL
BigJim77 10-22-2005, 05:20 PM thats awesome brother..........
It will all work out. I had a similiar incident happen to me a month ago. I start my new job this Monday. It may take some time but I know I will make more money and have more time for family in the long run!
Best of luck bro!!
Rudeman 10-22-2005, 10:37 PM Hey Marty I'm more or less just getting caught up on the old freakz board but I guess my thoughts are this, first you are much better off now than before from many different standpoints, second yes is does suck and thats a real kick in the nuts the way they did it and lastly I can honestly say that for every door that closes a new one opens and it seems in both of our cases its a much better door. All the best,
Rude
manimal280 10-22-2005, 11:56 PM I feel your pain, I may be looking for work as well. Good luck with the hunt. Keep your chin up.
