Egomaniac247 09-23-2005, 02:46 PM You'll be alright. I think most folks are in "hurricane fright" right now thanks to Katrina. Here in VA/NC we are used to Hurricanes coming up the coast...for the most part it means strong winds and a lot of rain....with the biggest hassle being the power being out for a few days. Isabel dropped a tree on my brand new truck (only had it a month)....but other than that, that was the first hurricane that I've witnessed that actually affected MY life....and at the age of 27, I'd say I've been through atleast a dozen. I don't think Katrina was any more dangerous than the numerous other big storms that have come through over the years, I think New Orleans was just a huge disaster waiting to happen with their topographical layout.
That being said, I AM filling my tank up this afternoon.

lol... the city of houston is out of gas. how weird is that?!?! and yeah, the price of gas may double depending on where she comes in.

cupcake 09-25-2005, 02:54 AM The damages caused by Rita are minor compared to the consequences of Katrina. Heavy rains, strong winds, a few floodings in Houston, great panic and 500.000 families without power. Rita had lost its strength before reaching Texas which is good. Hopefully Louisiana won't have suffered to much of this thunder storm.

Yeah it won't cause as much damage, but I'll bet ya anything the FEMA claims will be about the same.
