View Full Version : i got a question
ram56 08-05-2005, 07:46 PM lately my body has lost its mind. i use to lift 4 days a week and my body would be sore the next morning, and i never realy got that big. but now im at the point where im lifting 7 days a week 2 times a day (like 12pm and 8pm) because i cant get tired, and i cant figure out why. its starting to piss me off. i wake up the next morning not sore at all. i keep thinking im not pushing myself hard enuff, but yet im geting good gains, im bigger then i ever use to be. anyone got the solution to this
Demon 08-05-2005, 08:10 PM And the problem is.....? I'd be happy as hell if I could do that.

postpremium 08-05-2005, 08:26 PM plain and simple. you aren't lifting hard enough...

That seems excessive to me...sounds like you might be overtraining. Then again, you say you're bigger than you've ever been. Different things work for different people.
If you're bigger than you've ever been, whats the problem?
How long have you been lifting 7 days a week for? Sounds like you have great recovery time but watch for signs of overtraining.
johnk 08-06-2005, 03:00 AM I was reading your post getting my answer all formulated in my head, then I came to your last sentence. It really sounds like an 'if it's not broke, don't fix it' situation.
When the gains stop, it will be time to change it up.

ram56 08-06-2005, 02:29 PM didnt mean to make it sound like a problem. it just confuses the hell out of me. i would think i should be getting tired or something. but when i get home i dont feel like i did anything. i like having that feeling like im to sore to do anything, i dont know im a little jaded i quess. i was lifting 4 times a week then stopped getting sore so i increased the days untill i got to 7 after that i increased the amount of times i go a day. im just wondering why my body has been acting retarded all of a sudden
postpremium 08-06-2005, 04:55 PM u've increased in volume when you probably should increase in intensity....
post
It would help to know something about you. How old are you? How long you been lifting? When you say you're "bigger", what does that mean? How much do you weigh? How tall are you? What do your workouts look like? Etc. etc...

ram56 08-06-2005, 05:32 PM im 17, i have been lifting for a little over 4 years, by bigger i mean visually and by the amount im able to lift. im 165 lbs 5'6. when i was doing 4x a week my football and wrestling coachs would give me the workout. but lately since i have been lifting an odd amount of time i dont really have a set circut or nothing. but i stay mostly upper body since im only lifting for girls now.
<QUOTE=ram56> but i stay mostly upper body since im only lifting for girls now </QUOTE>
7 days a week on upper body? damn
You should post your routine for us bro.
I'm sure if you aren't doing much leg work then that's what will be recommended in the advice you will get. The only time i get sore for more than a day is when I work my legs heavy, squats and deadlifts.
skeet225 08-08-2005, 12:37 PM No offense, but that is the dumbest shit Ive ever heard. You want a solution to being the biggest youve ever been? The solution would be stop training and eating right. If your training and not getting sore and growing then more power to ya,i wish I had those genes. Im sore as hell after every single workout. Keep training that way until the gains stop-there is your real solution.
jackedupcrazy 08-30-2005, 03:05 AM IMO-You're training WAAAY too much. If you're not getting sore its probably because your intensity sucks. Go one leg day with me and I guarantee you wont be able to walk for a week.
You're body needs rest to grow my friend. Just cause you're not sore doesnt mean you're not causing trauma to your body and it needs time to recoop.
I would love to see your routine.
BTW-Guys that solely lift for girls are FUCKING PUSSIES. Sorry but the truth is you're not going to gain any respect from any hardcore guys when they see you training upper body all week long. And let me tell you brotha having 18" arms and 10 inch calves IS NOT appealing to anyone. It looks fucking ridiculous.

haha yea, a little top heavy.
but we need more info, all I can say from reading this is that you need to double check your diet, increase intesity, and lesson the days you lift. my god 7 days a week in insane.

codenamevega 08-30-2005, 08:34 PM Your not lifting enough. Yeah having 18' arm does kind of look top heavy.
tight booty 09-07-2005, 08:52 AM you are not training your legs???? Do you realise that the legs make up for 60% of the body??? You are going to look so unbalanced and without doing squats excuse me for saying this but you will end up with a flat ass and trust me this is very unattractive from a girls point of view, which by the way is who you are training to impress!
Do it for yourself not for anybody else and get in there and train like a man! Get under the squat rack.............would you believe that squats are an all over growth exercise?
I cannot believe I am reading this!

DOMS doesn't mean a whole lot. You take part in a lot of extra cardiovascular activity, and that's most likely why you aren't getting sore.
My advice, is you have a lot of reading to do. Training that much, just because you don't get sore is not beneficial. The only reason you have got away with it so far is because you're young.
TiMbO 11-24-2005, 02:50 AM 7 FUCKING DAYS A WEEK??!!And your NOT getting sore??Then your not training. Try lifting the wieghts at the OTHER end of the rack kid. I dont care how old you are or how good your genes are, training 2 times a day, 7 days a week means your spending more time ogling youself in the mirror and hiding your high-school hard-on from every chick that jumps on a treadmill. If you really had even half a clue on what your doin right in there, 7 days a week training will SHUT YOU DOWN!!!!And dude, how do you expect to grow if you don't train the OTHER half of your body? You really think chicks dig guys with a huge upper body while there legs look like they've been wheelchair bound for 20 years? You lift for chicks then you don't even belong in a gym.
ram56 12-19-2005, 01:57 AM My lower body use to be the only thing that grew when I was lifting in high school, my upper body has basically always remained the same until now. But anyways 2 months ago (about the same time I hurt my knee on a stupid pot hole) I got a call from one of my old coaches who encouraged me to walk on a college football team after the military as a long snapper. So I was going to start working on my lower body again but the army base I'm on has only 1 squat rack and the people there welded the things that hold the bar to high for me to use the leg press is usually broken (but I think its fixed now) and there might be enough room for use the hex bar at night time when its more empty.... Other then that the gym has all of the other leg machines. Can anyone help me make a program for my legs with the limited options I have, I move in about 3 months so after that I can start using squat again.
Oh yeah I must have some black in my family cause my ass is naturally good
Korean&Proud 12-19-2005, 01:31 PM just be creative, dumbell lunges, Dumbell Squat, Leg Extensions and those sort of things will help a little bit. if you need to squat why not find somewhere else that has the machines available?
K&P
ram56 12-19-2005, 01:57 PM i would pay for a membership to another gym but i leave in about 3 months and anyplace down here will only sell a year membership. I'm on an army base and army gyms suck so when i get to my air force base it will be all yeah good.
whywork40 01-07-2006, 11:26 PM If you don't work your legs there will be allot more recovery for your upper body. Which might be one reason for the sudden increase in strength in your upper body. The other thing is to grow (if working out with intensity) you need some days off. So I would also say your not using enough intensity. Use more weights and lower reps to failure. Do some forced reps and some drop sets, that will put an end to not getting sore and you will take days off because you will be to tired to work out 7 days per week. One more thing is your legs being so strong and being able to lift more weights with them will get your body to create more muscle building hormones (not to mention an even body and a less likely hood of getting hurt). One correction to one of the above statements, your legs do not make up 60% of your muscle or your body. A woman's body is 60% below the waist (that includes her butt). It's closer to the other way around for a man 60% of your muscle or weight is above the waist. That's one of the reasons women work out their legs and but allot more and men do chest, back and arms the most.
Rutgers Six 01-09-2006, 06:24 PM Try three times a day. Your endocromatic cells need to be pushed harder. And we all know, if were not sore it's due to a lack of sistemio fluids within our muscles. So....work out longer, work out harder, work out PERIOD!
ram56 01-09-2006, 06:26 PM Ok this thing is old it just keeps being bumped to the top, die topic die
deonemoneyman 01-11-2006, 04:07 AM :la :cents Work the legs.... YOur 17 and have an abundance of genetic shit going on in your still developing body. You are at the zit age ,so all of them extra hormones are busting out and taking over.. That is why you guys at your age are doing crazy things and thinking you are invincable!! Stay in the gym, stay out of the drug and drinking, work them legs 2X harder than the upper body, all will fall in place and even out eventually. Good luck and keep your mind clear...Meaning... stay in them books and exercise your brain as well as your body!! Women go nuts over a man whos' mind is as sharply tuned as his body.Trust me.
