View Full Version : Blood Levels question?
jlittle 03-09-2005, 01:20 PM Had blood levels done a couple weeks ago , unrelated to use of juice. My UREA NITROGEN levels and CREATININE levels were sightly elavated. I am curently on test and winny, finishing cycle this week. I didi an intenet seach of blood levels and appears raised levels can be result of high protein intake and not due to juicing. Any one have any thoughts / input on this.
BioHazard03 03-09-2005, 01:37 PM when you look at the molecular structure of an amino acid (building block of protein) you have elements of carbon (c), nitrogen (n), oxygen (o), hydroxide (oh), hydrogen (h), and a radient group (determines which amino acid it will be) which is labeled as r. so, when the amino acid breaks down, you will have some excess nitrogen. urea just means that it is present in your urine. so, of course you will have higher levels of nitrogen if you increase your protein. when you take protein, you need to realize that you need a whole lot more water. when the amino acid breaks down, you are left with ammonia. yes, the same shit you can clean your oven with. ammonia is nh3. so, to dilute the ammonia, drink more water. that will flush it out of your system.
if you have a shitload of protein and drink no fluids, you can die from toxicity of the ammonia. now the chances of that are pretty damn slim. in otherwords, if that happened to you, you should die because you were an idiot for not drinking water.
drink about 1 to 2 gallons of water a day.
by the way, you have nothing to worry about.
:yeah
jlittle 03-09-2005, 01:52 PM Biohazard. Thanks for quik response. I was worried levels were high because of juice. I have to see my family doctor due to abnormal test results and did not want him knowing about juicing . I f I tell him I have been taking lots of protein supps I would assume juicing would not be an issue and doc will tell me to drink more water.
bigkap 03-09-2005, 05:14 PM I agree for the most part with Biohazard. But could be showing a little kidney strain. Creatinine levels will almost be elevated in athletes. Why not ask your doc?
Chest Rockwell 03-09-2005, 07:16 PM You have to look at what the normal range is. If it is just above the high end of the normal range you don't have a problem. However, if it is double the high end of the range or higher you know you got a problem that needs immediate attention.

since he said that they were slightly elevated, i didn't really put too much thought into this. i still stand by what i said about increasing his water intake. more water will help flush his system. to further add, he can piss out more nitrogen and other substances. also, if he drinks a whole lot more water, filtration will be less strenous on his kidneys. filtration will be easier because his urine will be diluted. when that happens, the kidneys can filter at a slower and easier rate, instead of a shitload at once.

to add more on this post, the info in here is very true. although, he only said that the levels were slightly elevated. he needs to find out the exact levels. there was a thread posted a couple of weeks ago that had a shitload of info about normal ranges for many substances in your body.
if the levels are really high, then yes...you need to do something quick. medical attention is necessary.
jlittle 03-10-2005, 01:40 PM Thanks fro respones. Levels were just slightly elavated. For Urea Nitrogen 32mg/dl. Normal range is 7-25 mg/dl. Creatinien. Normal range is .05 - 1.4 mg/dl. Mine was 1.7 mg/dl. Hope its just lack of water.
Cannons 03-10-2005, 01:42 PM Very informative post! Good info BIO
bigkap 03-10-2005, 02:35 PM Yeah with those values, you should be fine as bio said. But make sure to get lab draws again soon. If they increase, def seek help.
BioHazard03 03-10-2005, 02:51 PM increasing your water should do the trick. drink 1-2 gallons a day. then, after a month, get it checked again. by then, you should be more than fine. just keep us posted dude.
