Me and my workout buddy were at the gym as usual early yesterday morning. This one really big guy walks in that I've seen a couple of times but never really talked to. He goes over to the cable pull-downs and start doing his thing.

After a few exercises I look over and he's acting kinda weird. He started twitching and having a hard time standing up.
The gym owner was dealing with him and didn't seem too concerned, but the guy was definitely having a hard time.

My first thought was that he was either diabetic or mildly epileptic and they already were aware of this and that he was just having some sort of spell. However, when they didn't grab him a drink from the cooler or anything I started to wonder.

Well anyway the guy was going from passing out sitting upright to trying to stand up and looking like he was having a seizure. One guy just happened to be a doctor and they basically just kept him on the bench and sitting down until the paramedics came.

The guy didn't have a clue what was happening to him and eventually they had to cart him off to the hospital.

One of the guys verified today that it was exactly what I suspected -- he had injected something at his house, and then gone to the gym. He made it there before the embolism hit.

I don't know how he turned out, but he was in a tough situation there.

I can't get over how many people I've met or talked to that have given themselves embolisms or caused strokes -- most of the time, just being careful and pulling back on the syringe to check for blood is all it takes.

I know it's a pain in the ass to do, especially if you're injecting anywhere other than your quads, but damn it's better than near killing yourself!

If that story isn't inspiring enough I don't know what is. I ALWAYS aspirate.

Not a pain in the ass, but standard procedure!

Bump that, it's little effort for the reward it gives.

the only thing i don't understand is why it wouldn't hit him immedently after injecting. I know when i do so much as nick a vein and gear travels into it I get the cough reall bad within seconds. I could only immagine what it would be like to shoot directly into a vein, it must be really bad.

From what I've always heard over the years is that if you inject directly into a vein you'll be dead within minutes. So the good Lord must really like this fellow lol.
