Hey bros I have a little question for ya, but I must describe the situation just so you guys know where I'm coming from. So bare with me. O.k. here we go:

Thanksgiving morning I go and play flag football with a good friend of mine and some peeps from his church, and as always I manage to hurt myself. While I was running down the field I tried to stop and cut to avoid a defender and when I planted my right foot my cleat stuck and I roll over on the outside of my foot with all my momentum. I felt something pop, but I thought nothing of it since it's happened before. Well once I get home my ankle's swollen and my knee starts to hurt. I decide to go to a local hospital the next day, nothing big, and have it checked out. So I go to the emergency and when they see me, they take some x-rays and what not. Then, this is the part that pisses me off, the emergency doctor comes in and says it's not broken so I probably just spained it. Well no shit I walked in myself so of course it's not broken. So then I tell him my knee feels just as bad and he's like "Oh you probably just tore a tendon when you sprained your ankle, it probably happened at the same time" Well they give me some bullshit brace that doesn't even work, and I leave. The reason I'm so mad is cause I thought a torn tendon is kind of serious, am I mistaken or what? My friend spoke with a chiropractor friend of his and described what happened and he thinks I might have a torn tendon in both my knee and ankle. Luckily my dad had his knee scoped not to long ago and I'm gonna try to see his doctor. Should I go back and beat the holy shit out of that emergency doctor of what? I mean I thought a torn tendon or ligament is something that shouldn't be ignored. I don't know, just had to get that off my chest. Sorry for riding my soapbox for so long lol, but I know you guys always have good advice and opinions.

A torn tendon or ligament is definitely something to be concerned with. Find a good orthopedic surgeon or two and go get an MRI to be sure. The X-ray will NOT show soft tissue, such as a ligament or tendon. The fact that you can walk doesn't mean you don't have a fracture or a bad tear of something. That is a common misconception. GO get the appropriate diagnostics done. Better safe than sorry.

As for beating the doctor, it's not worth your time or energy. Bad doctors, chiro's, PT, nurses, cops, teachers, trainers, etc. are all a dime a dozen. Besides, not justifying his actions, but most ER doctors, it is my understanding, are there to take care of emergency situations. If you have a ortho problem, they will kick you out with a brace and some meds to hold you over until you get to an ortho. Don't assume that the first ortho you see is the best either, do your homework, and when in doubt get another opinion.

Thanks for the replies fellas I appreciate it. T-spine as usual your input is on point. Actually I have a doctors appointment this coming monday, and hopefully he can refer me to a specialist or something if it's serious. I'll probably seek one out anyway just to be on the safe side, don't want an injury that didn't heal properly coming into play in the future.

As far as the emergency doctor goes, I understand that big emergencies are more important, but this hospital's not what you think. You'd never guess it to be one if you saw it, and they hardly get anything serious cause there's four big time hospitals in the city. I mean that's why I went, there was only like two other people there. I don't know, it's over with now. I'll just wait and see what this next doctor tells me.

Thanks again for your input bros.
